About this programme
NVC for Coaches teaches the Nonviolent Communication framework developed by Marshall Rosenberg to enhance coaching effectiveness through empathy-based communication. The programme covers NVC foundations including observation versus evaluation, needs versus strategies, and self-empathy practices, with particular focus on how coaches can use these tools to work with clients experiencing interpersonal conflict and negative self-talk. Gloria Walker, a Certified Master Coach with over 15 years of experience in higher education and specialized training in ACT, Internal Family Systems, somatic coaching, and mindfulness, leads the course. The programme emphasizes how NVC helps coaches avoid triggering client defensiveness by grounding communication in empathy rather than judgment, while simultaneously developing the coach's own self-empathy to recognize and address personal biases that might interfere with client work. Participants learn to distinguish between requests and demands, explore nervous system dysregulation, and practice honest expression both in real-time classroom interactions and through assigned practice outside sessions.
