About this programme
This programme develops experienced coaches' ability to coach intact work teams rather than individuals, addressing the distinct challenge that high-performing team members do not automatically create high-performing teams. The curriculum covers the theoretical and practical foundations of team coaching, including core skills, common challenges, and a structured five-phase intervention model spanning scoping, contracting, delivery, evaluation, and withdrawal. Central to the approach is the PERILL framework, which applies complex adaptive systems thinking to identify drivers and barriers to collective team performance. The learning combines classroom instruction with substantial hands-on practice and peer discussion, allowing coaches to develop and refine tools for enabling teams to understand and shift their own dynamics. Delivered by CCMI under the leadership of Prof David Clutterbuck, a foundational figure in developmental coaching and mentoring, the programme forms the second stage of a three-course pathway to Senior Practitioner accreditation.
